A Handy Alt Codes Cheat Sheet

This post was originally published on this site

If you have ever tried to insert special characters into your email marketing content, you already know what a pain it can be to search online and copy/paste the symbol into your email. What you may not have known is you can use Alt codes in ClickDimensions email templates to get these symbols to appear automatically. This is a neat trick that will save you time when creating emails and is especially useful in email editors that don’t allow custom coding, such as the ClickDimensions drag and drop email template editor.

To use these Alt codes, place your cursor in the desired text area, press and hold the Alt key, then type in a specific series of numbers (I found using the numeric pad was easiest). For example, Alt 0153 will insert a ™ symbol.

Below are a few Alt codes that you can easily insert into your ClickDimensions email templates. For more Alt codes, visit this site.

Alt 0162 — ¢

Alt 0169 — ©

Alt 0174 — ®

Alt 0176 — °

Alt 0189 — ½

Alt 0188 — ¼

Alt 0190 — ¾

Alt 242 — ≥

Alt 243 — ≤

Alt 251 — √

Alt 0178 — ²

Alt 236 — ∞

Alt 234 — Ω

Alt 228 — Σ

Alt 225 — ß

Alt 0153 — ™

Alt 0216 — Ø

Alt 0131 — ƒ

Alt 0181 — µ

Alt 0177 — ±

Alt 0165 — ¥

Alt 174 — «

Alt 175 — »

Alt 0224 — à

Alt 0225 — á

Alt 0232 – è

Alt 0233 – é

Alt 0241 – ñ

Alt 0242 — ó

Alt 0243 — ó

The above Alt codes will only work on PCs. If you are using a Mac, you can hold down the Option key (also referred to as the Alt key) and press a single number or letter. For example, Option + Y will insert a Japanese Yen symbol ¥.

Please note that different email clients might render these symbols differently, so it is always recommended to test your emails before sending.

Happy Marketing!
