When using the Email Interaction trigger in a campaign automation, you’re able to navigate participants down a positive or negative path based on their interaction with an email. Most sales and marketing teams are interested in which links were clicked within the email and have fellow team members follow up based on a particular link clicked. In the campaign automation example below, we’ve demonstrated what we like to refer to as on-click pathing. This is a great way for actions in a campaign automation to take place based on a link that has been clicked in an email.
Our entry point shows an email is sent when someone is added to a marketing list.
Our example email is a welcome email that consists of several links a recipient can click on.
In our campaign automation, we have set up two Email Interaction triggers checking to see which link is clicked. In the first Email Interaction trigger, we are looking to see if “Academy and LMS” is clicked. If the link is clicked, the participant will go in the positive path and our LMS team will be notified that the participant clicked on the “Academy and LMS” link.
In the second Email Interaction trigger, we are looking to see if the “support channel” link is clicked. If the link is clicked, the participant will also go into a positive path in which a support team member will be notified, and the contact/lead record will be assigned to another user.
If no links were clicked, the participant will be removed from the marketing list.
However, if the participant clicks on both links, they will go into both actions following the Email Interaction triggers and this will be reflected in the statistics as well as the participant’s timeline of your campaign automation.
